I can't believe its over. I have finally come to the end of my Learning 2.0 experience. I can honestly say its been a fun ride. I have learnt about alot of new and exciting tools that I can use via the Internet. Podcasts, Bloglines, Flickr, Del.icio.us and numerous others.
At the library I work at those of us undertaking Learning 2.0 training have banded together to help one another. Because of that it has made my experience so much more enjoyable.
I'm not sure if I will use alot of what I have learnt at work, but I'm sure i will use it at home. In particular the online word processing package. I think that will come in quite handy.
Anyway..I'd better sign off for the last time. Its been fun!

no. 22 Downloadable Audio Books
This week I had a look at downloadable audio books. I had a look at the list of titles available and there wasn't really anything that particularly interested me. I had a listen to a classic Hans Christian Andersen book "The Emperor's New Clothes" and it wasn't that bad. The lady reading had a very nice voice and it was quite soothing and relaxing. Just a shame they didn't have anything more modern and maybe some fantasy.

no. 21 Podcasts
Well todayI had a look at podcasts. Well actually I've been listening to podcasts ever since I started doing Learning 2.0, and without headphones either. In order to not disturb my collegues I've had to turn the sound right down and stick my head right up to the computer. Looks kind of daggy really. Anyway..I had a look around yahoo for podcasts and nothing really seemed to grab me until I found the one on cars. Yes...I love cars. So I've added to my bloglines account Autoblog. This gives you all the news on the latest cars that have been released. Might be boring for some..but not for me.

no. 20 YouTube
Well today I had a look at YouTube. I've atually used it quite a bit at home so it wasn't really anything new. Because of the software used at my library this site is blocked, so i have had to do some of this at home. As I mentioned above because of the security software that the council uses YouTube couldn't really be used in the library. But its is fun to use at home. I've looked at various videos on funny commercials, behind the scenes of my favourite tv shows and videos that people have shot themselves. Oh yeah and I've checked out film clips for various songs...gotta love the 80's! Its also really cool how people can also link youtube clips to their websites.

no. 19 Web 2.0 Awards
This week I had a look at some of the winners and finalists of the web 2.0 wards. A couple took my interest.
First one was a cocktail builder website. You just type in a list of alchohol and or mixers you might have lying around home and it tells you which cocktails you could make with them. http://www.cocktailbuilder.com/Another fun one was tell a story in one sentence. I had a bit of a chuckle reading some of them. http://www.onesentence.org/One that I use myself regularly is facebook. I use this to communicate with friends, share pictures and just to meet people.http://www.facebook.com/ Some of the applications that I discovered on learning 2.0 were also there such as Zoho, Flickr, Rollyo and del.icio.us.
I can't believe I'm up to activity 19. Its sad to think my journey will almost be over. I can tell you it has been a pretty fun experience.

no.18 Web Based Apps
Well today i had a look at web based applications, in particular Zoho Writer. This is very much like Microsoft Office, having word processing, spreadsheets and publisher like program. I had a bit of a play with the word processor, its just like microsoft word..maybe better. I was even able to email my documents to my hotmail account.
Wil I use it myself you ask. Yes I think I may. Because it's web based I can access it from any computer that has the internet. This gets my big thumbs up!

no.17 Pb Wiki
I've actually got this week off, but in order to not get left behind I decided to do some learning 2.0. This was actually pretty easy to do. I went in and added a few things to the favourites, such as books tv shows etc.... Then I added my blog to the page with no troubles.
I noticed what my collegue said about the Glen Eira Library Service title, so i tarted it up a bit.

no.16 Wikis
This week we have been discovering the magical wonderful of the "Wiki". I often use "Wikipedia" to find out information on actors, tv shows, importand moments in history etc.. One thing I wasn't aware of though was that there are other wikis out there apart from wikipedia, i always thought they were the only one.
I think that having a wiki linked to our catalogue at the library would be a great idea . A place where the public (or staff) could give reviews or comments on certain books they have read. It could be great help for somebody having trouble deciding what to read. It was interesting having a look at the Princetown library's wiki and some of the reviews that people have written.
I would have to say..this has been quite a fun experience.

no.15 On Library 2.0 and Web 2.0
i had to have a long hard think about this one. Where do i see libraries going in the future? As the technological age continues I can see us using the internet and other online databases alot more. Podcasts, Rss, blogs ..etc. Working in a library for over 10 years i have seen gradual changes in technology..only recently we stopped using Floppy disc drives on pcs. Do I see us doing away with books altogether?.. Maybe, but not for a very long time.

no. 14 Technorati
Well today i had a look at Technorati. Its kind of like Google, but for blogs. I had a quick look to see if my blog was listed, and yes it is. I did a seach for "Learning 2.0", and over 6,000 posts popped up. Would I use it myself...probably not. Unless you know which blog you are looking for specifically, you can spend quite a long time while scrolling through blog after blog etc.. You can narrow it down a bit by doing the advanced search, but i still don't think I would use it.

no. 13 Del.icio.us
Well today i had a look at del.icio.us. I had a bit of a look around the Learning 2.0 account first and looked at what everyone had added. Alot of the stuff there didn't really interest me so i created one for myself, with sites that i frequently look at. It was interesting to see how many other people had tagged the sites as well. I was able to add a few more to my account by having a look at what they had added. All in all..quite fun really!

no.12 Rollyo
Well today I tackled Rollyo. This was fun. I am a big fan of Stagate and thought this would be a good chance to put up at Stargate seach engine. I put together all of the sites i like to look at and added them to my Rollyo. Apart from a little hicup at the end, this was quite easy to do.

no.11 All About Library Thing
Well this week I am looking at Library Thing. It is an online catalogue that lets you list what books you like to read. I'm not sure if i would use it much myself, but now that i have an account it could be useful.
The link to my online catalogue is
http://www.librarything.com/catalog/adman1
Now I haven't read all these books but you get an idea what interests me.

No. 9 Finding Feeds
Well here I am again..writing another post on my learning 2.0 experience. This time it is exploring Feeds.
I have varying interests..from celebrity gossip down to ocean liners. So i thought i would do a search using the varies search tools on these topics. I think of the top 4 seach tools, i found Google Blog seach to be the bext for me. It gave u a listing of the different sites, blogs etc..and also gave u a little bit of info on each of them. I also liked the layout alot more then the other search tools. It also had a related blogs listing at the top. It was from here that i chose one of my feeds titled "stupid celebrities". Giving great gossip etc on what certain celebrities are up to and the silly things that they do. I also found another feed giving me info on the 3 cunard ocean liners which i found very interesting. I have added all these to my bloglines account.
i have to say i am find this learning 2.0 to be quite a fun experience.

no.8 RSS and News Reader
Well I finally completed the excercise on Rss and News Reader. It took a little while to work through it, but its finally completed. I don't know if i'll use it that often, but if u need to find news info, entertainment info etc... in a hurry it'll be pretty handy. To think before i started this excercise i didn't even know it existed.

no 7. Technological interest for the Week.
My technological interest for the week is my new Toshiba notebook. It's very handy having a computer you can carry around the house with you and, its much faster then my old pc. It has 1 GB of ram, dvd burner, windows vista, wireless connection, 15inch screen and its a really nice blue colour. Here's hoping i have many, many hours of trouble free computing ahead of me.
