This week we have been discovering the magical wonderful of the "Wiki". I often use "Wikipedia" to find out information on actors, tv shows, importand moments in history etc.. One thing I wasn't aware of though was that there are other wikis out there apart from wikipedia, i always thought they were the only one.
I think that having a wiki linked to our catalogue at the library would be a great idea . A place where the public (or staff) could give reviews or comments on certain books they have read. It could be great help for somebody having trouble deciding what to read. It was interesting having a look at the Princetown library's wiki and some of the reviews that people have written.
I would have to say..this has been quite a fun experience.

no.15 On Library 2.0 and Web 2.0
i had to have a long hard think about this one. Where do i see libraries going in the future? As the technological age continues I can see us using the internet and other online databases alot more. Podcasts, Rss, blogs ..etc. Working in a library for over 10 years i have seen gradual changes in technology..only recently we stopped using Floppy disc drives on pcs. Do I see us doing away with books altogether?.. Maybe, but not for a very long time.

no. 14 Technorati
Well today i had a look at Technorati. Its kind of like Google, but for blogs. I had a quick look to see if my blog was listed, and yes it is. I did a seach for "Learning 2.0", and over 6,000 posts popped up. Would I use it myself...probably not. Unless you know which blog you are looking for specifically, you can spend quite a long time while scrolling through blog after blog etc.. You can narrow it down a bit by doing the advanced search, but i still don't think I would use it.

no. 13 Del.icio.us
Well today i had a look at del.icio.us. I had a bit of a look around the Learning 2.0 account first and looked at what everyone had added. Alot of the stuff there didn't really interest me so i created one for myself, with sites that i frequently look at. It was interesting to see how many other people had tagged the sites as well. I was able to add a few more to my account by having a look at what they had added. All in all..quite fun really!

no.12 Rollyo
Well today I tackled Rollyo. This was fun. I am a big fan of Stagate and thought this would be a good chance to put up at Stargate seach engine. I put together all of the sites i like to look at and added them to my Rollyo. Apart from a little hicup at the end, this was quite easy to do.

no.11 All About Library Thing
Well this week I am looking at Library Thing. It is an online catalogue that lets you list what books you like to read. I'm not sure if i would use it much myself, but now that i have an account it could be useful.
The link to my online catalogue is
http://www.librarything.com/catalog/adman1
Now I haven't read all these books but you get an idea what interests me.

No. 9 Finding Feeds
Well here I am again..writing another post on my learning 2.0 experience. This time it is exploring Feeds.
I have varying interests..from celebrity gossip down to ocean liners. So i thought i would do a search using the varies search tools on these topics. I think of the top 4 seach tools, i found Google Blog seach to be the bext for me. It gave u a listing of the different sites, blogs etc..and also gave u a little bit of info on each of them. I also liked the layout alot more then the other search tools. It also had a related blogs listing at the top. It was from here that i chose one of my feeds titled "stupid celebrities". Giving great gossip etc on what certain celebrities are up to and the silly things that they do. I also found another feed giving me info on the 3 cunard ocean liners which i found very interesting. I have added all these to my bloglines account.
i have to say i am find this learning 2.0 to be quite a fun experience.

no.8 RSS and News Reader
Well I finally completed the excercise on Rss and News Reader. It took a little while to work through it, but its finally completed. I don't know if i'll use it that often, but if u need to find news info, entertainment info etc... in a hurry it'll be pretty handy. To think before i started this excercise i didn't even know it existed.
